Skincare is broken. As a 22 year old woman, I struggled with acne all my life. I wake up everyday feeling my face for the inevitable emergence of a new bump in some corner of my face. I’d walk to the mirror and try and squint away the bright red splotches staring back at me. My entire snapchat memories were filled with sulking photos of me documenting the acne on my face, hundreds and hundreds of them. I panicked when anyone asked to see a photo on my camera roll in case they would come across my collection of acne infested photographs. On days where I couldn’t stand to look at myself I would try and book a dermatologist appointment. 3 week wait. If I was lucky. By that time this flare up would disappear and something entirely different appeared. Oh and it’s 300 USD and not covered by insurance. Great. I had a shelf of maybe 15 products, all that seemed to merge into each other; I simply didn’t know what to use when and on what.

I realized I wasn’t alone. 85% of Americans have struggled with acne at some point and of those, over 91% have never been able to go to the dermatologist. My co-founder and I found that so many people were on their acne journey entirely alone.
